Dr. Kristi Jensen, a native of the Bay Area, completed her undergraduate education at California State University, Hayward (now East Bay) with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2000. She then journeyed to the east coast and graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2004 with her optometric degree. After working in private practice for 7 years in the Seattle, Washington area her family moved to southern California where she served as the Chief of Vision Therapy Services, and Assistant Professor, at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Optometry for eight years. 

In practice for over 15 years, Dr. Jensen has extensive experience in working with her patients and mentoring her students while using rehabilitation to treat individuals with learning related visual dysfunctions, amblyopia, traumatic brain injury and those with special needs. 

While in practice in the Seattle, WA area she was privileged to work with Dr. Nancy Torgerson, a Past President of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development(COVD) and well-known developmental optometrist. In October 2008 Dr. Jensen received her Fellowship in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development which allowed her to further her knowledge and skills in treating patients utilizing vision therapy. The following year, in April 2009, the National Board of Examiners in Optometry received Dr. Jensen as a Station Examiner for Part III of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. In March 2011, Dr. Jensen became a member of COVD’s International Examination and Certification Board of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development which conveys fellowship. She currently serves as the Chair of this prestigious committee.

Dr. Jensen is excited to join the doctors and staff at Family Vision Care where she will provide primary care and vision therapy services. Dr. Jensen takes a comprehensive approach to evaluating her patients. She takes time to listen and she includes her patients and their families in the discussion to arrive at a treatment plan As a part of Western University of Health Sciences, College of Optometry, Dr. Jensen received numerous awards for excellence in clinical teaching and as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor for SUNY and MBKU’s Southern California College of Optometry, Dr. Jensen will also play a role in educating optometric externs who rotate through our office to receive training as a part of their own 4th year optometric education. 

Other professional affiliations include: Alameda/Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society, American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, College of Optometrists in Vision Development and the Optometric Extension Program.

Born in San Leandro, CA and after 19 years away from this part of the country, Dr. Jensen has returned to the Bay Area. Dr. Jensen and her husband keep busy with their professional responsibilities as well as their 3 ½ year old daughter. They also have a new baby on the way! When free time presents, Dr. Jensen enjoys local travel, reading mystery novels and scrapbooking!
